Shopping in Cape Verde - The Port of Mindelo
Markets
There are three different local markets in Mindelo. You can find really fresh fish at the Fish Market and all that colourful scenario at the Fruits and Vegetables Market. You can also find some clothes and souvenirs in Praia Estrela but they are mostly imported and sold by Senegalese so you must be prepared to barter for everything!
Shops
There are lots of shops all around Mindelo where you can nnd everything you need. Clothes and souvenir shops and the famous Chinese shops are just everywhere along Mindelo streets.
Mini-Markets
The local mini-markets are becoming increasingly well stocked with goods imported from Europe and Brazil. Wines, local spirits, cigarettes, food and toiletries with well known brands can be purchased at reasonable prices.
Bartering
This is only acceptable with the Senegalese at small craft markets, or the street traders.
Fish
You can buy fresh fish every morning from The Municipal Fish Market in Mindelo.
Even if you don't want to buy it's still a great experience seeing huge fish like Tuna or Shark being brought in.
