Become a Cape Verde Resident
If you are thinking of settling permanently in Cape Verde, particularly if you are retired, the government claims it can process your application within 30 days. Once you have a residence permit you qualify for certain privileges, including the import of personal effects such as a car and electrical equipment free from taxes and fees; exemption from property tax when buying your house; and no tax on any financial resource brought in from outside the country. Also, if you decide to invest any of your savings in a Cape Verdean business, you will qualify for foreign investor status (see below).
To, qualify, you must have a monthly income of no less than US$1,300 (this figure is sometimes reviewed) and provide your own medical insurance.
